Cyberabad victims lose Rs 700 crore to cyber fraud in 2024

Avinash Mohanty, Commissioner of Police Cyberabad who on Tuesday launched the PROTECT (Preventing Risks Online through Education, Collaboration and Training) campaign stated that the cases of cyber-crimes are increasing every year across the globe.

Hyderabad: The victims of Cyber frauds lost a staggering Rs. 700 crore to conmen in Cyberabad alone during the year 2024.

Avinash Mohanty, Commissioner of Police Cyberabad who on Tuesday launched the PROTECT (Preventing Risks Online through Education, Collaboration and Training) campaign stated that the cases of cyber-crimes are increasing every year across the globe.


“Fraudsters are adopting new modus operandi. Cases of digital arrest, investment fraud and trading fraud are on rise other than other old modus operandi. People need to be alert and save themselves from cyber fraudsters,” said Avinash Mohanty.

The CP highlighted the need for awareness about cybercrime and maintaining cyber hygiene.

As part of the ‘PROJECT’, initiative the police in association with volunteers will create awareness about cyber crimes among the masses.
