Hyderabad: Kakinada man’s organs save five lives through Jeevandan initiative

On November 18, Murali was involved in a road accident when he was struck by a two-wheeler. He was declared brain dead in Hyderabad on November 26, 2024. His wife, Koripella Swathi, gave consent for organ donation. Surgeons retrieved five organs—liver, two kidneys, and two corneas—which were then allocated to five patients in need through the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

Hyderabad: Family members of a 54-year-old private employee Koripella Murali Venkataramana, a resident of Anjaneya Nagar, Ramanayyapeta, Kakinada rural, Kakinada (Urban), East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, who was declared as brain dead by the team of attending doctors in Hyderabad, have decided to donate the organs of the deceased for needy patients under State-run Jeevandan initiative.

On November 18, Murali met with a road accident when he was hit by a two-wheeler and was declared brain dead in Hyderabad on November 26, 2024.

Wife of the brain dead victim, Koripella Swathi give the consent to donate the organs of the brain dead victim. The surgeons retrieved liver, two kidneys and two corneas (in all 5 organs) and allocated them to five needy patients under State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

Jeevandan Telangana has extended its gratitude to Koripella Murali Venkataramana’s family, whose noble decision has saved lives. With this, the Jeevandan Programme of Telangana has reached a significant milestone with 166 brain-dead donations recorded in this year.
