Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) or 163 of Bharatiya Nagarika Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was on Sunday imposed in Gudihatnoor mandal centre where tension broke out when irate relatives of an alleged rape victim attacked the suspect and set his house on fire before pelting stones on police, resulting injuries to an inspector and a sub-Inspector on Saturday.

The prohibitory orders was enforced in Gudihathnoor mandal headquarters to prevent untoward incidents.

The situation was under control, officials said. Utnoor DSP Nagender was supervising security measures. A case under sections of the POCSO Act was registered against Poshetti, who allegedly raped the girl by abducting her. An attempt to murder case was also reportedly booked against the relatives of the girl.

Meanwhile, Boath MLA Anil Jadhav consoled the victim who was undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-Adilabad. He urged the police to take stern action against the perpetrator and to ensure justice to the victim.

He stated that the crimes against women were on the rise. Members of SC colony in Gudihathnoor mandal centre met police officials and requested them to take stern action against the accused person.

On Saturday night, the suspect Poshetti allegedly abducted the girl and raped her. On coming to know about it, the relatives of the girl rushed to the house and torched his house. Some of them attacked him. They resorted to pelting stones against the police when they tried to shift Poshetti to safety, demanding that the police hand him over to them.

Echoda Inspector Bheemesh and Gudihathnoor Sub-Inspector Thirupathi were injured. While Bheemesh received head injuries, Thirupathi sustained injuries to his legs. They were admitted to RIMS-Adilabad.
