Nirmal: Security was stepped up to prevent any untoward incidents in communally sensitive Bhainsa town in view of the proposed Shobha Yatra to be held on Sri Ram Navami on Sunday.

Bhainsa ASP Kiran Khare told ‘Telangana Today’ that the fool-proof security arrangements were made for preventing untoward incidents during the procession. As many as 300 policemen including an Additional SP rank officer, four inspectors, 15 Sub-Inspectors, constable and home guards drawn from several police stations of erstwhile Adilabad district and II Battalion of Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) and special parties from Kumram Bheem Asifabad district would be deployed in the town.

He said ten police pickets are being posted in the town and policemen would cover important Masjids in the town. Similarly, a command control centre was set up to monitor the situation through CCTV cameras and to keep a tab on trouble-makers. Two drone cameras would also be used for surveillance and no permission was given for the public addressing system during the procession.

According to the police, the procession would start at 9 am and culminate at 1 pm. The celebrators and participants are advised to follow the conditions set by the High Court, which permitted them to conduct the procession. Bhainsa registered communal clashes, which turned violent, during Shobha Yatra in 2021. Two groups indulged in pelting of stones against each other and shops and vehicles were torched by mobs, injuring many.
