Hyderabad: Accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of deceiving SCs and STs, BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha National Secretary S Kumar demanded the government to hold a special session of Assembly to discuss issues related to SC and ST communities.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Kumar said the Congress party made several promises for the welfare of SCs and STs during the assembly polls, but even after one year in power it had failed to fulfill a single promise.

In the current budget the government allocated Rs. 1000 crore to SC Corporation, Rs. 400 crore for most backward classes welfare and Rs. 300 crore under the tribal subsidy scheme, but not a single rupee had been spent for the welfare of the weaker sections so far, he alleged.

Further, the Congress promised to provide Rs. 12 lakh to each families of SCs and STs under the Ambekar Abhayahastam scheme, but so far nothing had been done in that direction, he said, adding that the government had failed to release Rs. 20 lakh to beneficiaries under the Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi scheme for SC & ST students, causing lot of hardship to them.

“Congress has cheated SCs & STs of the State by not fulfilling the poll promises. These communities will teach lesson to Congress,”he said.
