Telangana reports 447 chikungunya positive cases between August and November

Hyderabad: The Telangana State public health department on Thursday said that a total of 447 chikungunya positive cases, out of 13, 320 samples tested, were reported between August and November 12, 2024.

In response to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), United States advisory, which reported large number of chikungunya positivity among travelers reaching United States, the Telangana State Public Health department said that the surge in chikungunya cases took place from August to October.


In August, a total of 3, 438 samples were tested out of which 134 samples were positive, in September, 6, 344 samples were tested and 183 were positive and in October, 2, 911 samples were tested out of which 74 samples came positive. This month, up to November 12, a total of 451 samples were tested out of which 12 samples tested positive for chikungunya.
