Jeddah: The Indian government is paying special attention towards its diaspora across the world, said Mohammed Sharique Badr, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.

He said that the government has initiated several measures to welfare of Indian workers in the Kingdom and also extending its full support to preserve the rich Indian culture among diaspora abroad.

Addressing Telugu Day along with Saudi National Day celebrations recently, Sharique Badr hailed the vibrant Telugu community in the Kingdom.

The senior diplomat was the chief guest for a day-long glittering event held by SATA (Saudi Arabia Telugu Association), a social and cultural organization of Telugu NRIs in Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh that witnessed a mammoth congregation of Telugu NRIs.

It was sheer festive buzz that drew hundreds of Telugu NRIs including a significant number of women and children. Praveen Kumar, Second Secretary, also spoke on the occasion where he emphasised the community role in strengthening bilateral ties.

A colourful evening with a scintillating performance depicting the vibrancy of Indian culture was displayed to the audience. The patriotic drama that depicts unity in diversity of Indian tradition had thrilled the audience.

Riyadh region is a crucial hub for SATA from where majority of members hail. The women from both states play a significant role in SATA, according to its leaders.
